Painting Autumn

Inspired by a fallen leaf

“Autumn is beautiful, don’t you think?”

“Absolutely,” I agreed, watching gorgeous, variegated leaves fall.

“And you paint leaves? Unoriginal. You should find another subject.”

Never, I thought, while waiting for him to leave.

Fading from sight, I cast my spell, painting autumn’s leaves in warm reds and golds.

My favourite time of year. As a photography enthusiast, I take many photos of leaves. A step out my back door, the leaves are in our trees, on the ground, and yard art. It’s just that easy to reflect on nature, and take a photo for a memory.

I'm not sure what lesson, if any, you were thinking of conveying with this story. However, at a time when I am trying to quiet the voices inside my mind that tell me to conform or to try to please others, this was very timely! And as I love autumn leaves, brought me a smile and a warm feeling all around. Thanks, Dascha. Lovely story.
