Dascha, these books are spectacular - yes, follow science and don't anthromorphize the wolves or run out an "rescue" them, track them by a number for each one when they have entered Yellowstone. It's pretty easy to remember the numbers because there are real standout wolves in terms of their intelligence, leadership, and loyalty to their own pack. They felt like really intelligent family members, with all those qualities found in humans. So, yeah, I anthromorphized them! And I cried when a spectacular wolf died. The first book is "The Rise of Wolf 8: Witnessing the Triumph of Yellowstone's Underdog" - so they're about the Alpha Males, but always I learned about the Alpha Females, too. Hope you (& your son!) enjoy the reading!

A wolf. I’m reading my third book about the wolves reintroduced to Yellowstone starting in 1995 I’ve learned much about wolves and truly love and respect them - and the watchers and biologists at Yellowstone. Knowing so much now about this species, I still was able to enjoy this fantasy about one wolf (they usually go off to die alone in a favorite spot). And imagine I am that fortunate old woman. (The author of the series of books and a dedicated daily watcher and tracker is Rick McIntyre.) Recommend!
